Risk Prevention on the Road - Brake Safety Day
The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) held an unannounced Brake Safety Day earlier this year. This event aimed to raise awareness regarding the importance of brake systems and, for 2024, focused specifically on brake lining and pad violations. Keep reading to learn more about Brake Safety Day and review the key findings from this most recent event.
What Is Brake Safety Day?
During Brake Safety Day, inspectors across North America aim to identify and remove unsafe commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) from the roadways. In particular, CMVs are inspected throughout this event for critical, brake-related violations, which are outlined in the CVSA’s North American out-of-service criteria.
CMVs with such violations are then placed out of service and must be removed from the roadways until necessary vehicle adjustments or repairs are made. This year, inspectors compiled and reported data on brake linings and pads.
